Since I started flying, over 25 years ago (still young, by the way) the airline industry is still struggling with the pilot shortage issue. It’s like musical chairs, but instead of chairs, it’s pilots, and instead of music, it’s the sound of frustration!.

In the Middle East, GCC region, the pilot shortage is hitting hard due to various factors similar to the rest of the world. It’s like a desert with no oasis in sight yet. But so far, there is nothing to fear, there are many ways to minimise the shortage and airlines should start with retaining their pilots first.
You could start by offering them more than peanuts. How about competitive salaries, better working conditions, and opportunities for career advancement?
It’s Time to Show Your Pilots Some Love, Airlines!
Despite the pilot shortage, the aviation industry is still ordering more planes than ever before. It’s like ordering a big meal before checking if you have enough plates.
But seriously, the demand for pilots is only going to increase in the future, so it’s important for airlines to invest in your pilots, trainers, training programs and stop blaming the pandemic!.
in the Middle East, the airlines have also been experiencing a shortage of pilots. The expansion of airlines and the establishment of new carriers in the region have strained the pilot supply, leading to increased competition. The latest data collected suggests the region could face a shortage of 18,000 by 2032.
BAA Training
The pilot shortage is a significant issue for the airline industry, and it’s not something to take lightly. GCC airlines need to take proactive steps to retain their pilots and attract new talent to the profession. By doing so, they can minimise the impact of the pilot shortage and ensure a smooth and safe flying experience for their passengers.
